Nancy Urban, President of the Darien Arts Council 501 c3 Non-Profit Organization, is originally from Syracuse, NY. She has been involved in theatre as a performer and choreographer from age 10. Nancy attended Onondaga Community College AA, Syracuse University and graduated from CW Post/Long Island University, BA & BFA. After spending time in NYC, she met her husband. She has lived in Darien for 20+ years. After working for Ace Hardware Corporation for a few years in Advertising, Nancy created and ran a Musical Theatre Workshop for young people as well as a Glee Club and Acting Class for 12 years at the Darien Park District. She also ran Musical Theatre, Acting and Glee Club camps for the Burr Ridge Park District.
Nancy has been a Private Voice/Piano teacher as well as a Vocal Coach in the Darien Area for the last 18+ years. Nancy enjoys reading, growing vegetables and creating artwork for her Etsy shop.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am married and have one child who lives in the city of Chicago.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have mostly worked with kids. I think they’re pretty awesome. The best thing about what I do is meeting like-minded people and finding a way to bring the Arts to our Community.

The women on the Board of the Darien Arts Council – Kellie Kerfin, Casey Kippes, Laura Heinking and Ann Garro.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Czech Republic to see family…and it’s absolutely beautiful there!

Trust but Verify.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
It’s small, everyone knows everyone and it’s constantly evolving due to the good leadership of our Mayor.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
That’s too far! Hopefully, doing what I’m doing now.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I am much more tenacious than I appear.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Just returned from a trip to Alaska and it was stunningly beautiful.

I love October- Fall is my favorite season.

My friends and family.

The Forest Preserve and when I slow roast tomatoes in my kitchen.
